The Effect of an Educational Intervention Based on the Theory of Protection Motivation on the Promotion of Safe Traffic Behaviors in Adolescents

Introduction: Traffic accidents are one of the biggest public health challenges. Considering role safe behaviors in reducing traffic accidents, present study was conducted to determine effect educational intervention based on protection motivation theory promoting male students. Methods: In this study, students were randomly divided into two control group (n=70) and an (n=70). After confirming validity reliability, a researcher-made questionnaire consisting 63 questions distributed among The received training for 90 minutes four weeks. data collected form self-report immediately six months after analyzed by statistical tests correlation, Chi-square, multiple regression, repeated measures ANOVA, t using SPSS version 19. Results: structures predicted 21% variance behaviors. Immediately intervention, except fear construct, mean scores other theoretical constructs students’ significant between groups, but not perceived self-efficacy, response efficacy, studied constructs, (P>0.05). Conclusion: influence several components formation behavior, it seems that promote students, addition designing theory-based programs, creating supportive infrastructures policymakers planners is essential correct
